Custard Sauce Recipe
The Custard Sauce is a creamy sauce served with fruits or puddings. The creamy layers formed by beaten eggs and milk is sweet enough for your evening dessert. Even if you are calorie conscious, still you are bound to prepare the Custard Sauce recipe.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions
almond extract, few drops, if desired; lemon extract, few drops, if desired.
Blend sugar, cornstarch, and salt in 2 - quart sauce pan.
Add 1/4 cup of the milk and mix to a smooth paste.
Then add remaining milk and beaten egg yolks.
Cook over medium-high heat 6 to 8 minutes, stirring constantly, until custard mixture coats a spoon and is slightly thickened.
Remove from heat; add butter and cool.
Then add flavoring, as desired.
This sauce may be kept in refrigerator and used as topping for fruits, baked and steamed puddings.
