Ingredients
2 cups light cream
4 egg yolks
1/2 cup sugar
2-3 tablespoons liqueur (Grand Marnier or other), or 2 tablespoons rum or cognac, or 1/4 cup orange or lemon juice plus 1 tablespoon grated rind, or 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, or for spicy sauce, add cinnamon, ginger, or nutmeg to taste.
Directions
Scald the cream.
Beat egg yolks with sugar until thick.
Add hot cream slowly, stirring.
Cook until mixture coats the back of a spoon.
Flavor as desired.
