1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

2 1/2 cups milk, scalded
1 unbaked 9-inch pastry shell

Directions
Blend eggs, sugar, vanilla, and salt.
Gradually stir in scalded milk.
Place pastry-lined pie plate on oven rack; pour filling into measuring cup.
Pour filling into pastry shell.
Sprinkle with ground nutmeg.
Bake at 350° till knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes.
Cool on rack; then chill.
