Crustless Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients
| Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Ground cinnamon | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 6 medium-sized (about 2 lbs.) cooking apples, washed, cut into eighths, cored, and pared | ||
| All purpose flour | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Baking powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1 To taste | |
| Shortening | 6 Tablespoon | |
| 1/2 cup lightly packed brown sugar | ||
Directions
Blend sugar and cinnamon in a large heavy saucepan.
Stir in water and apples.
Bring to boiling, reduce heat, and cook 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, sift flour and baking powder together; set aside.
Cream shortening with brown sugar until fluffy.
Beat in the flour mixture, adding gradually.
Turn apples and syrup into a greased 9-inch pie pan.
Cover apples completely with the topping.
Bake at 350CF about 35 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is browned.
Cool on rack.
