1)In a bowl, add cereal, flour, sugar, coconut and salt. Keep aside.
2)In a saucepan, melt butter on medium heat.
3)Add corn syrup and cook until mixture comes to a boil. Keep stirring.
4)Add soda and stir rapidly mix.
5)Let the foam settles and remove from heat.
6)Add vanilla and blend. Pour over dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Mixture will be dry and crumbly.
7)Shape into rounds by pressing mixture by tablespoonfuls against side of mixing bowl.
8)Take an ungreased baking sheet and drop the cookies about 2 inches apart.
9)Press with fork to flatten slightly.
10)Bake in a moderately-hot oven at 375 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes, or until lightly browned.
11)Cool about 2 minutes, then remove carefully.
12)Serve the cookies as and when desired.
