Croustade Recipe
Ingredients
| Apples | 2 Pound, peeled | |
| Sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1/4 cup apple brandy | ||
| Orange peel | 2 Teaspoon, grated | |
| Vanilla | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| 1/2 pound packaged phyllo dough | ||
| Butter/Margarine | 1/3 Cup (16 tbs), melted | |
| Prunes | 8 , cooked | |
| Confectioners sugar | ||
Directions
1. Thinly slice apples; place in 3-quart Sauce Pan along with sugar; cook over low heat 20-25 minutes or until apples are soft; add brandy, orange peel, vanilla; cool.
2. Fold each sheet of dough in half, lengthwise; arrange in spoke-like pattern on 15 1/2 X 12-inch Cookie Sheet; brush each sheet with butter; arrange apple mixture in center of dough; place prunes around apples; bring dough up over apples to meet in center; twist ends.
3. Place on low rack of oven; bake 15 minutes at 400°F., then 20 minutes at 350°F. or until golden brown; serve warm sprinkled with confectioners sugar. Makes 8-10 servings
