Arrange on an upturned saucer in a round casserole dish. Slit the roasting bag at the base, to enable the steam to escape, and microwave on full power for 10 minutes.
Turn the joint over and microwave on power 8 for 26 minutes, giving the dish a half turn, twice, during cooking.
Allow to stand, covered with a 'tent' of foil, for 20 minutes.
Remove the gammon (ham) and peel away the skin. Score the fat into diamond shapes with a sharp knife and press the sugar and mustard mixture onto the fat. Press a clove into each diamond.
Place under a preheated hot grill (broiler) until gammon (ham) is crisp and brown. If liked, decorate the joint with cherries and serve with vegetables of your choice. Delicious hot or cold.
