Ingredients

 
1 package dry yeast
 
1 cup lukewarm water
 
3 tablespoons melted butter,or oil
 
2 teaspoons honey
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
1 egg
 
3 cups whole wheat flour
 
1/4 cup melted butter
 
1/4 cup grated cheese
 
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
 
1 teaspoon dill seed

Directions

Preheat oven to 450° F.
Soften yeast in lukewarm water.
Add butter or oil, honey, and salt.
Mix well, then add egg.
Stir in flour and mix until well blended and soft.
Divide dough into four parts and roll each part paper-thin on a well-floured board.
Mix butter, cheese, celery salt, and dill.
Spread over each sheet, reserving 1 tablespoonful for topping, then fold each sheet of dough in half and roll again to paper-thinness.
Prick with a fork and mark into 2 x 1 1/2 inch wafers with the dull edge of a knife or with a pastry wheel.
Brush tops with the remaining seasoned butter mixture, and bake in preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, until golden brown.
Break bars apart, cool, and store in sealed container.
