Crispy Fruit Fritters Recipe
Crisp Fruit Fritters is an irresistible dessert recipe. A deadly combination of varieties of fruits is something you would never want to miss out on!
Ingredients
1 lb cooking apples, young rhubarb or bananas
Caster sugar
4 oz plain flour
1 egg, separated
1/4 pint milk
Deep fat or oil for frying
Directions
Prepare the fruit; the manner depends on which type you are using.
Peel, quarter and core the apples and cut into thick slices.
Cut the rhubarb and bananas into 2 inch (5 cm) lengths.
Sprinkle the cut fruit with caster sugar.
Sift the flour into a bowl, making a well in the centre.
Blend the egg yolk with the milk and then add to the flour to make a smooth thick batter.
Whisk the egg white until stiff and fold it into the batter.
Heat the fat or oil in a large pan, dip the fruit in the batter, one piece at a time, and then fry until golden brown.
Drain on kitchen paper and serve at once with sugar and cream or lemon juice if you do not have a sweet tooth.
