Crisp Fried Onion Rings Recipe
Ingredients
| Spanish onions - 2 large | ||
| All-purpose flour - 1 cup | ||
| Sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Baking soda | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Ground nutmeg | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Buttermilk | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| Vegetable oil | ||
Directions
GETTING READY
1. Peel the onions and wash well.
2. Cut the onions into 1/2-inch slices and separate out the individual rings. Set aside to drain
MAKING
3. In a large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients and add buttermilk and egg while beating till smooth.
4. Dip the rings into the batter and deep fry in hot oil at 375° 2 to 3 minutes till golden brown and cooked through
SERVING
5. Serve hot
