Ingredients

 
6 apples, cored and cut into chunks
 
1 cup raw cranberries
 
1/2 cup apple cider
 
1 cinnamon stick
 
2 tablespoons brown sugar, firmly packed
 
Pinch of ground nutmeg

Directions

Combine the apples, cranberries, apple cider, and cinnamon in a large, heavy saucepan.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring several times.
Remove the cinnamon stick.
Transfer the apple-cranberry mixture to a blender or food processor and puree.
Stir sugar and nutmeg into puree.
