Crackers For Kids Recipe

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups oatmeal
1/2 cup toasted wheat genu
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons chilled butter, cut up
1/4 cup vegetable oil
6 tablespoons cold water
Sesame seeds, optional
Directions
Put the oatmeal in the container of a food processor and process until the oats form a fine powder.
Add the wheat germ, flour, salt, and sugar and process to mix.
Add the butter and process just until the butter disappears into the dry ingredients.
With the machine running, slowly add the oil, then water and process just until the dough forms a ball.
Divide the dough in half and refrigerate half of the dough.
On a lightly floured board, roll the dough out to 1/8-inch thickness.
Cut into 1- by 2-inch rectangles or with cookie cutters into shapes.
Place on ungreased baking sheets.
Prick each cracker in several places with a fork.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake in a 300-degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the crackers are rich brown and firm.
They will crisp further on cooling.
