Cracked Wheat With Filberts Recipe
Ingredients
| Onion | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Filberts | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), sliced | |
| 3 tbs butter or chicken fat 45 mL | ||
| Cracked wheat | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Pinch thyme and nutmeg | ||
| Chicken broth | 3 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | To Taste | |
| Pepper | To Taste | |
Directions
Saute onion and filberts in hot butter until onion is tender and filberts golden.
Stir in the cracked wheat, thyme, nutmeg and chicken broth.
Bring to a boil and cover.
Simmer until wheat is tender, about 30 to 35 minutes or pour into a closely covered casserole and bake at 350F (180C) for 40 minutes.
Stir once or twice.
Taste and season with salt and freshly ground pepper.
