Homemade Country Pie Recipe

Ingredients

 
2 cans (8-ounces each) tomato sauce
 
1/2 cup soft bread crumbs
 
1 small green pepper, chopped
 
1 medium onion, chopped
 
1 pound lean ground beef
 
1 16 cups instant rice
 
1 cup water
 
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
1/8 teaspoon oregano
 
1/8 teaspoon pepper

Directions

Combine 1/2 can tomato sauce, bread crumbs, green pepper, onion and ground beef in medium mixing bowl.
Mix well.
Pat mixture onto bottom and sides of 10-inch pie plate.
Combine rice, water, 14 cup cheese, remaining tomato sauce, salt, oregano and pepper.
Spoon into pie plate.
Cover with plastic wrap.
Microwave 20 to 25 minutes on '8', or until rice is fluffed and tender.
Sprinkle with remaining cheese.
Microwave 3 to 4 minutes on '8', or until cheese is melted.
Cut into wedges to serve.
For ovens without solid state heat control, Microwave 16 to 20 minutes on HIGH and 2 to 3 minutes on HIGH.
