Ingredients

 
2 8-oz. cans tomato sauce
 
1/2 c. bread crumbs
 
1 lb. ground beef
 
1/4 c. chopped onion
 
1/4 c. chopped green pepper
 
2 tsp. salt
 
1/8 tsp. oregano
 
1/8 tsp. pepper
 
1 1/3 c. packaged precooked rice
 
1 c. Cheddar cheese, grated

Directions

Combine 1/2 can tomato sauce, crumbs, ground beef, onion, green pepper, 11/2 teaspoons salt, oreg- ano and pepper; mix well.
Pat mixture in greased 9-inch pie plate; pinch 1-inch edges and flute.
Set aside.
Combine rice, remaining tomato sauce, re- maining salt, 1 cup water and 1/4 cup cheese.
Spoon rice mixture into beef shell.
Cover with foil.
Bake in 350-degree oven for 25 minutes.
Remove cover; sprinkle top with remaining cheese.
Return to oven.
Bake, uncovered, for 10 to 15 minutes.
