Country Casserole Steak Recipe
Ingredients
| Beef chuck steak | 1 Pound | |
| All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons | ||
| Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Large onion -1, peeled, sliced and separated into rings | ||
| Carrots | 1 Cup (16 tbs), sliced | |
| Celery | 1 Cup (16 tbs), sliced | |
| Tart apple or pear - 1 medium-size, pared, quartered, cored and sliced | ||
| Sausage links package | 1 , smoked | |
| Water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Catsup | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Parsley | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Elbow macaroni - 1 cup (half an 8-ounce package) | ||
Directions
MAKING
1) Trim the excess fat from the steak.
2) Rub the steak with a mix of flour, salt and pepper.
3) In a pan, add the steak and brown over medium heat.
4) In greased 12-cup baking dish, mix onion, carrots, celery and apple or pear and top with the browned steak and sausage slices.
5) Into the pan drippings, stir in water, catsup and 1/4 cup of the parsley.
6) Heat to boiling and then pour over meats and cover.
7) Place in an oven at 350° for 2 hours, or till the steak is tender.
8) Cook the macaroni as per directions on the label and drain.
SERVING
9) Place the steak on a cutting board and cut into slices of 1/2-inch-thickness. Skim all fat from the mix in the baking dish and stir in the macaroni and the rest of the parsley.
10) Place sliced meat on top.
