Country Bean Barbecue Recipe
Country bean barbecue is a bacon and two beans recipe. Cooked with celery, onion and added kidney and lima beans, the country bean barbecue is flavored with garlic and catsup. Finished with a dash of tabasco, it makes for a great addition to meals.
Ingredients
1 can (16 ounces) lima beans
6 slices bacon, diced
1/2 cup sliced onion
1/2 cup diced celery
1 clove garlic, minced
1 cup catsup
1 can (16 ounces) red kidney beans, drained
1/2 teaspoon TABASCO pepper sauce
Directions
Drain lima beans; reserve 1/2 cup liquid.
In large skillet cook bacon until browned.
Drain all but 1 tablespoon bacon fat from skillet.
Add onion, celery and garlic; cook 5 minutes or until tender.
Stir in catsup, lima beans, reserved lima bean liquid and kidney beans; mix gently.
Simmer uncovered 20 minutes; stir occasionally.
Stir in Tabasco® sauce.
