Cottage Pudding Recipe
The cottage pudding is a truly simple pudding made easily with a hadful of ingredients. Prepared with a batter of flour, egg, milk and sugar, the cottage pudding is flavored wih a hint of vanilla. Baked in the oven, the cottage pudding can be served with cream, dessert sauce or fresh fruits.
Ingredients
1 cup sifted cake flour
2/3 cup sugar
1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup milk
1/4 cup soft shortening
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
Directions
Sift dry ingredients into mixing bowl; add milk, shortening, and vanilla.
Beat vigorously 2 minutes.
Add egg; beat 2 minutes longer.
Pour into paper lined 8x8x2 inch pan.
Bake in hot oven (400°) about 20 minutes.
Serve warm with a dessert sauce or fruit spooned atop.
