Cottage Cheese Apple Pie Recipe

Roll out, line a pie pan, flute the edges, prick all over and bake in hot oven (210°C) for 25 to 30 minutes or until pastry is light brown.
Peel, core and halve the apples.
Bring syrup to a boil.
Drop apple halves in syrup and let simmer till they are soft.
Turn apples once during cooking, taking care not to break them.
Remove from heat.
Let them cool.
Combine cottage cheese, sugar and lemon juice and spread in the baked pie shell.
Drain apple halves and place on cottage cheese mixture, with cut side up.
Add a little warm syrup to jam to reach spreading consistency and spread on apple and cottage cheese mixture.
Place one glazed cherry in the centre of each apple half with nuts around.
