Cornmeal Mush Recipe

First of all let me thank my neighbor for sharing this excellent Cornmeal Mush recipe. I tried this recipe for Cornmeal Mush the other day and was totally bowled over. It is an effortless Side Dish. You don't need to think more. Just prepare this Cornmeal Mush now!

Ingredients

 
1/2 teaspoon salt
 
5 cups hot water
 
1 cup cornmeal
 
2 cups cold water
 
Cream and honey (optional)
 
Shredded Cheddar cheese (optional)

Directions

Bring hot water and salt to a boil in a large saucepan.
In a separate bowl, combine cornmeal and cold water.
Stir slowly into the hot water.
Reduce heat, and let cook 5 to 10 minutes until thickened.
Stir often.
Serve with cream and honey or top with shredded cheese.
Fried Mush Prepare Cornmeal Mush as directed.
Pour into a loaf pan, and chill until set, about 1 hour.
Cut into 1/2 inch slices.
Fry on a lightly greased griddle for 4 to 5 minutes on each side or until lightly brown.
Serve with butter and syrup.
