Directions

1. Start oven, set at Hot, 425° F. Grease hot, heavy iron corn stick pans for 12 sticks.
2. Sift the flour with the baking powder, sugar, salt and corn meal.
3. Combine the beaten egg, milk and cooled butter or margarine and add to the dry ingredients, stirring quickly, until mixture is just dampened. The batter should not be smooth.
4. Pour quickly into the hot stick forms, filling them two-thirds full. Bake about 25 minutes, or until delicately browned. Remove from pans at once and serve piping hot.
