Continental Cake Recipe
There is no better gift for your palate than this Continental Cake recipe. Best enjoyed as a Dessert this recipe was taught to me by a dear friend who also happens to be a great chef. I am certain both of us will be in agreement that this Continental Cake is really delicious.

Ingredients
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 lb. margarine
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 1/2 c. flour
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. (packed) brown sugar
Directions
Combine dates with 1 cup boiling water.
Stir in mar- garine, soda, salt, cocoa and flour; mix thoroughly.
Blend in eggs, sugar and vanilla.
Pour batter into well-greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
Combine nuts, choco- late chips and brown sugar; sprinkle over batter.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until cake tests done.
