Ingredients
| 1 1/2 pounds boneless beef chuck, cut in 1-inch cubes | ||
| Cooking oil | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Salt | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Onion | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs), chopped | |
| Garlic | 1 Clove (5gm), crushed | |
| 1 16-ounce can tomatoes, cut up | ||
| Water | 3/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Dry red wine | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Snipped parsley | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Dried thyme leaves | 1/2 Teaspoon, crushed | |
| All purpose flour | 3 Tablespoon | |
| Hot cooked rice | ||
Directions
In large skillet brown the meat on all sides in hot oil. (Electric skillet 350°.)
Season with salt and pepper.
Push meat to one side.
Cook onion and garlic; drain off excess fat.
Reduce heat (220°).
Add next 6 ingredients.
Cover; simmer till meat is tender, about 1 hour.
Combine flour and 1/3 cup cold water; add to skillet.
Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly.
Spoon beef mixture over hot cooked rice.
Season with salt and pepper.
Push meat to one side.
