Shortening - 2/3 cup
 
Brown sugar - 2 1/4 cups, firmly packed
 
Eggs - 3
 
Sifted flour - 2 2/3 cups
 
Baking powder - 2 1/2 teaspoons
 
Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
 
Nuts - 1 cup, chopped
 
Semi-sweet chocolate morsels - 1 package (1 cup)

Directions

GETTING READY
1) Grease and line a 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking pan with wax paper.

MAKING
2) In a saucepan, heat shortening.
3) Add in the brown sugar and allow to slightly cool.
4) Beat in one egg at a time.
5) Combine and sift the flour, baking powder, and salt.
6) Add into the shortening mix with the remaining ingredients.
7) Blend well.
8) Transfer into baking the pan.
9) Place in the oven at 350° F and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

SERVING
10) Top with grated chocolate and serve.
