Condensed Milk Tart Recipe

Ingredients

 
1 tin sweetened condensed milk (boiled
 
for 3 hours to caramelize)
 
2 cups flour
 
1 tblspn, sugar
 
4 tblspns, butter
 
1/4-tspn. salt
 
1 tspn, baking powder

Directions

Place the tin of milk (do not open) in a sauce- pan with boiling water and boil for 3 hours.
Cool and open.
The milk will now be like a rich caramel.
Line a tart tin with puff pastry or above recipe, mixed as follows: Sift dry ingredients together and cut in butter.
Mix to a dough with the milk.
Roll out 1/4" thick and line the greased tin.
Bake in a moderate oven.
Cool and fill with caramelized milk.
Decorate with cream.

Boiling the evaporated milk turns it into "dulce de leche": a SPanish type of caramel. When boiling the tin, it is important to submerge it completely and then cool it completely or it can explode.
