Add 1 teaspoon salt, and holding the spaghetti in a bundle gently lower it into the fast boiling water.
Stir with a long handled spoon or fork and then let it boil for 10-12 minutes.
Meanwhile, using scissors, snip the bacon finely.
Melt the butter over a low heat in a frying pan and add the bacon.
Cook slowly for 5 minutes, shaking the pan from time to time.
Tap the middle of the egg shell on the edge of a small bowl and carefully let the egg drop into the bowl.
Repeat with the other egg and whisk them with a fork.
Add the cream and some black pepper.
When the spaghetti is cooked tip it carefully into a colander over the sink.
Return the spaghetti to the pan and add the bacon and butter.
Using a fork toss the spaghetti round for 1 minute.
Now add the cream and egg mixture and quickly toss it around until all the spaghetti has been coated with the sauce.
Serve straightaway with a bowl of grated Parmesan cheese and remaining black pepper to sprinkle over it.
