Cold Tomato Catchup Recipe
This cold tomato ketchup is a cooked tomato ketchup made at home. Spiced with allspice and cloves along with garlic, the cold tomato ketchup can be used as a condiment at home or for preparing meals.
Ingredients
Ripe tomatoes- 1 peck
Vinegar- 1 pint
Salt- 2 tablespoons
Pepper- 2 teaspoons
Garlic- 1 clove, crushed
Ground allspice- 1 teaspoon
Ground cloves- 1 teaspoon
Directions
MAKING
1.This is a recipe used in the kitchen of General Washington.
2.Wash the tomatoes and force them through a wire sieve, then strain through a jelly bag.
3.The liquid is not used in the catchup, but may be used as tomato juice.
4.Thin the pulp with the vinegar.
5.Season with salt, pepper, garlic, allspice and cloves.
6.Pour into sterilized bottles and seal.

7.Serve with any appetizer
