Cold Water Buns Recipe
First of all let me thank my neighbor for sharing this excellent Cold Water Buns recipe. I tried this recipe for Cold Water Buns the other day and was totally bowled over. I am certain we both will agree that this Cold Water Buns is very scrumptious.
Ingredients
1 Fleischman's yeast
2 cups cold water
1/4 cup melted shortening
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg well beaten
About 6 cups flour (all-purpose), maybe little more
Directions
Dissolve yeast in cold water.
Let stand 10 minutes.
Add egg and shortening; and 1 teaspoon salt.
Stir.
Mix in flour and knead to soft dough, but not sticky.
Let stand in cold place overnight.
In morning make into 30 buns.
Let rise 2 hours in warm place.
Bake about 1/2 hour at 375° F.
Glaze with milk and sugar boiled into syrup (1/2 as much sugar as milk).
