Ingredients

 
1 pound potatoes, peeled and cut up (3 medium)
 
2 tablespoons milk
 
1/4 teaspoon salt
 
1/8 teaspoon pepper
 
1/2 pound chopped kale or cabbage (2 cups)
 
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
 
1/4 cup chopped onion
 
Butter or margarine

Directions

In a 2-quart saucepan cook potatoes in boiling salted water about 20 minutes or till tender; drain.
Transfer potatoes to a mixer bowl; mash.
Add the milk, salt, and pepper; beat at low speed of electric mixer till fluffy.
In the same saucepan cook kale or cabbage in boiling water for 5 to 7 minutes or till tender; drain.
Meanwhile, in an 8-inch skillet melt the 2 tablespoons butter or margarine.
Add chopped onion.
Cook over low heat about 5 minutes or till onion is tender.
Add the mashed potatoes and the cooked kale or cabbage.
Heat through, stirring constantly.
Pile the potato mixture into a heated serving dish.
Score top with a fork.
Serve hot with pats of butter or margarine atop
