Coffee For A Crowd Recipe
Ingredients
| 1 egg, shell and all | ||
| 1 1/4 pounds regular-grind coffee | ||
| Cold water | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Cold water | 9 Quart | |
Directions
Thoroughly mix egg, broken shell, and coffee together; add 1 cup water.
Tie coffee mixture in a large cheesecloth bag, allowing room for coffee to expand.
Immerse coffee bag in a large pot containing the 9 quarts water.
Bring to a boil.
Remove from heat and let coffee stand about 4 or 5 minutes.
Remove coffee bag and stir; keep hot.

OK - I'm good with the eggshell but my Grandmother never put the egg itself in her coffee.

Seems like a coffeenog! I guess the egg plays the same role as it does when making consomme. Helps to filter the impurities.
