Coffee Date Bars Recipe
Ingredients
| All purpose flour | 1 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 2 tablespoons instant coffee powder | ||
| Baking powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Eggs | 3 | |
| Sugar | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Pitted dates | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), finely chopped | |
| Walnuts | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), coarsely chopped | |
Directions
1. Measure flour, instant coffee, baking powder and salt into a sifter.
2. Beat eggs until light in medium-size bowl with electric mixer at high speed; beat in sugar slowly until thick; stir in dates and walnuts. Sift flour mixture over and fold in. Spread in a 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
3. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 35 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack; cut into 36 bars.
