Coconut chutney Recipe

This is a basic coconut chutney usually served along with dosas.idlis,utthapams etc...

Ingredients

 
1 Cup grated coconut
 
3 Tbspn roasted bengal gram(daliya)
 
4-5 green chilies
 
1" peeled and chopped ginger
 
1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
 
1/2 Tspn cumin seeds(jeera)
 
2 Tbspn yoghurt ,1/2 tbspn lemon juice
 
For Tempering:
 
1 Tspn urad daal(split lack gram)
 
1 Tspn mustard seeds
 
2 dreid red chilies
 
5-8 curry leaves
 
1/2 Tspn asafoetida
 
2 Tbsn oil
 
Salt to taste

Directions

Grind the first seven ingredients to a fine paste,add salt to it.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add split black dal(urad),then add mustard and cook it till it crackles.
Now add asafoetida,curry leaves and red chilies.
fry it for a minute.
pour it in the grinded paste and mix it all well.
Serve it with idlis,dosas,uthapams.
