Coconut Trinkets Recipe

Ingredients
2 packages (4 ounces each) sweet cooking chocolate
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 egg
1/2 cup sugar
1 can (31/2 ounces) flaked coconut
8 candied red cherries
Directions
1. Heat chocolate in a 9x9x2-inch baking pan, while oven heats, 5 minutes, or just until soft. Spread in an even layer; sprinkle walnuts on top, pressing in lightly.
2. Beat egg until foamy in small bowl with electric mixer at low speed; beat in sugar until well blended; mix in coconut. Spread evenly on top of chocolate-walnut layer.
3. Cut candied cherries into eighths; place in even rows on top.
4. Bake in moderate oven (350°) 15 minutes, or just until topping is set.
5. Cool in pan on a wire rack; cut into 1-inch squares, but leave in pan. Chill until ready to serve, then cut again into bars and remove. Return remaining bars to refrigerator.
