Heat the oil in a pan and put in the mustard seeds.
When they start to splutter put in the asafoetida and turmeric powders and then add the cluster beans.
Stir fry for a couple of minutes and add the groundnuts and green chillies.
Stir fry for five minutes more till the beans are slightly cooked, add a little water, if necessary.
The idea is not to cook the beans as you do in the curries.
They should be just softened yet retain their right green colour and at the same time become easy to digest.
Leave to cool Add the tamarind and salt and blend in the blenderiser to make a fine paste.
Add the minimum amount of water required to blend Serve with rice or rotis, as sandwich spread or a dip.
