Classic Oatmeal Cookies Recipe
Ingredients
| Butter | 1 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Firmly packed brown sugar | 1 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Egg | 1 | |
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon | |
| All purpose flour | 1 1/2 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Rolled oats | 3 Cup(16 tbs) | |
| Soda | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Water | 2 Tablespoon | |
| White sugar | ||
Directions
Cream the butter till fluffy.
Beat in the sugar and egg.
Add the vanilla.
Sift together the flour and salt.
Combine with the rolled oats and stir into the creamed mixture.
Stir the soda into the water.
Mix into the dough.
Wrap in waxed paper and chill overnight.
Working with 1/2 the dough at a time, roll out very thin, 1/8", on a lightly floured board.
Cut out cookies, sprinkle with white sugar, and place on greased baking sheets.
Bake at 360 degrees about 7 minutes.
The cookies should be crisp and golden.
Cool on a rack.
Store in a tin with a tight-fitting lid.
