|Granulated sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sake||1 Tablespoon (Japanese Wine)|

Stir over medium heat until sugar has dissolved.
Bring sauce to the boil, then turn heat to very low.
Simmer, uncovered, for 1 hour.
Remove from heat.
When cool, add sake.
Thread chicken pieces on bamboo sticks.
Brush well with sauce.
Place on grill over medium-hot coals.
Cook about 5 to 8 minutes, basting frequently with sauce and turning often.
