Clam Casserole Recipe
Ingredients

| 1 cup fine soft bread crumbs | ||
Directions
1. Drain liquid from the clams into a 2-cup measure; add enough milk to make 1 1/2 cups.
2. Melt half of the butter or margarine in a medium-size saucepan; stir in flour. Cook, stirring constantly, until bubbly. Stir in the 1 1/2 cups liquid; continue cooking and stirring until mixture thickens and bubbles 3 minutes; remove from the heat; cool. Beat in the egg and minced clams.
3. Melt the remaining butter or margarine in small skillet; stir in bread crumbs. Heat slowly, shaking pan constantly, until crumbs are lightly toasted. Spoon half into a greased, 4-cup baking dish; top with clam mixture; sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture.
4. Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 30 minutes, or until heated through.
