 All purpose flour1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Ground allspice1/4 Teaspoon
 Butter1/3 Pound
 Granulated Sugar1/2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Egg1
 Grated rind of 1 lemon
 Ground almonds1 Cup (16 tbs)
 Breadcrumbs2 Cup (16 tbs)
 Egg yolk1 , beaten
 ICING
 Icing Sugar2 Cup (16 tbs), sifted
 Lemon juice3 Tablespoon
 Orange or lemon2 Ounce, candied

Directions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Sift flour and spice together twice.
Cream butter and sugar.
Beat in egg and lemon rind.
Fold in ground almonds and breadcrumbs to form dough.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill for 1 hour.
Divide dough into 30 pieces and roll each piece until 4 inches (10 cm) long.
Brush ends with egg yolk and join together to form ring.
Place on greased baking sheets.
Bake 10-15 minutes.
Remove to cake rack to cool.
Combine icing sugar and lemon juice.
Ice cookies and decorate with strips of candied rind.
