Cinnamon Date Coffee Cake Recipe

| Baking powder | 1 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Milk | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Brown sugar | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) (Filling and Topping) | |
| Cinnamon | 1 Tablespoon (Filling and Topping) | |
| Walnuts | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), chopped (Filling and Topping) | |
| Flour | 1 Tablespoon (Filling and Topping) | |
| Melted butter | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) (Filling and Topping) | |
| Dates | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs), chopped (Filling and Topping) | |
Directions
Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly.
Add egg and beat well.
Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Spread half the batter into a greased 8 x 8 pan.
Spread half the filling (combined in order listed and not cooked) over the batter.
Top with remaining batter and spread rest of filling mix over top.
Bake in a 350° oven for 45 minutes.
