Cream shortening, 1 cup sugar and salt together.
Add milk and 3 cups flour; stir.
Add eggs and yeast mixture; beat well.
Add enough remaining flour to make a soft dough; let rise until doubled in bulk.
Punch down; let rise until doubled in bulk.
Mix 1 cup sugar and cinnamon together.
Roll out dough, cutting into 3-inch strips; tie in knots.
Dip knots into butter; coat with sugar mixture.
Let rise until doubled in bulk.
Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until brown.
