Chunky Split Pea Soup Recipe
Ingredients
2 1/2 cups dried split green peas
10 cups water or vegetable stock
8 ounces diced smoked turkey sausage
1 large Spanish onion, diced
2 cups diced potatoes
1 1/2 cups diced carrots
1 cup sliced celery
3 cloves garlic, crushed
2 teaspoons chicken bouillon granules
2 1/4 teaspoons dried sage
1 1/4 teaspoons dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Directions
1. Place all of the ingredients in a 6-quart pot, and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2. hours, or until the peas are soft and the soup is thick.
