Christmas Stockings Recipe




 Shortening1 Cup (16 tbs) (Part Butter Or Margarine)
 Confectioners sugar1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
 Vanilla1 Teaspoon
 Almond flavoring1⁄2 Teaspoon
 Green food coloring1⁄2 Teaspoon
 Flour2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs) (Gold Medal Brand)
 Salt1⁄2 Teaspoon
 Candied cherries9 , quartered
 Broken nuts1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
 Semi sweet chocolate pieces1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
 Icing1 Cup (16 tbs) (Easy Creamy)


Mix shortening, sugar, flavorings, and food coloring well.
Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting.
Blend flour and salt; stir into shortening mixture.
Chill 1 hr.
Heat oven to 400°
In palm of hand, pat 1 level tbsp.
dough into oblong about 3x1 1/2".
If dough seems to be too dry, carefully add a few drops of cream.
Lengthwise down center, place "surprises" 2 chocolate pieces, 1 cherry quarter, 2 pieces of nuts.
Mold dough around "surprises" and shape into roll 3" long.
Place on ungreased baking sheet, turning end of roll to form foot of stocking.
Bake 10 to 12 min.
Ice tops and toes.
