Chinese Beef Vegetable Chow Mein Recipe
this chow mein recipe is a steak and vegetable preparation with bean sprouts. The cubed steak is simmered to tenderness and finshed by cooking with chinese vegetables, bean sprouts and mushrooms and flavored with soy sauce. Served with jasmine rice or chinese noodles, this chowmein recipe is a made with a twist.
Ingredients
| Round steak | 1 1/2 Pound, cubed | |
| Onion | 1 Medium, chopped | |
| Butter | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Salt | 2 Teaspoon | |
| Pepper | 1 Dash | |
| Celery | 2 Cup (16 tbs), diced | |
| Water | 1 1/2 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| 1 can Chinese vegetables, drained | ||
| Bean sprouts | 1 Can (10oz), drained | |
| Mushrooms | 1 Can (10oz) | |
| Cornstarch | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Soy sauce | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
Directions
Brown steak and onion in butter.
Add salt, pepper, celery and water.
Cover and simmer until meat is very tender.
Before serving, add Chinese vegetables, bean sprouts and mushrooms; heat mixture.
Combine 2 tablespoons cold water, cornstarch, soy sauce and sugar; add to mixture.
Serve with hot buttered rice and Chinese noodles on top.
Substitute 1 to 1 1/2 pounds ground beef for round steak and simmer only 20 minutes for a quick dish.
