Chop Suey Recipe

The traditional Chinese Chop Suey is now tried in different forms and in different parts of the world. Like many others, I only prefer the chinese style Chop Suey. With some stringed noodles at its side, Chop Suey comes with fresh meat and bean sprouts. When did you have Chop Suey last? Try it out in your home kitchen with this simple easy to follow Chop Suey recipe.

Ingredients

 
1/3 cup salt pork, finely chopped
 
1 lb. pork 1/2 inch cubes)
 
1 lb. veal (1/2 inch cubes)
 
1/2 cup onions, finely chopped
 
2 cups celery, finely chopped
 
2 tablespoons molasses
 
1/4 cup soy sauce
 
1 teaspoon salt
 
1/4 teaspoon pepper
 
1 can bean sprouts
 
2 tablespoons cornstarch
 
1/4 cup water

Directions

Fry salt pork in 4-quart sauce pan until golden brown.
Add pork and veal and fry until brown, stirring occasionally.
Then add vegetables, molasses, soy sauce, and seasonings.
Mix well.
Cover.
Place over high heat until cover is too hot to touch (3-5 minutes).
Reduce heat to low and simmer 25 to 30 minutes or until tender.
Add bean sprouts, mix well, simmer and thicken with cornstarch and water to the desired consistency.
