Cholar Dal Recipe
I cook this Cholar Dal recipe every Saturday. I like this healthy Cholar Dal because it is a high protein dish. It is a very common dish in the Indian homes. It is primarily eaten during Lunch. Ingredients
| Chana dal | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Ghee | 2 Tablespoon | |
| Cumin seeds | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Cardamom | 4 | |
| Cinnamon | 25 Gram | |
| Bay leaves | 2 | |
| Red chillies | 2 | |
| Coconut | 1/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Chilli powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Turmeric powder | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
| Cumin powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Sugar | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1 To taste |
Directions
Cook dal with 4-5 cups of water till soft.
Heat ghee in a small pan and season with cumin seeds, cardamom, cinnamon and bay leaves.
Add red chillies and coconut pieces. Fry till coconut is light brown.
Lower the flame, add all the powders and add this mixture to the dal. Add salt and sugar and water if needed.
Simmer for 5 minutes and switch off the flame.
