Chocolate Stars Recipe
Chocolate starts are cocoa and chocolate cookies. Baked in the shape of beautiful little stars, these cookies are sandwiched with a layer of raspberry jam and dusted with sugar. A favorite with kids, these will win over adults too!

Shortening- 2 1/2 cups
Confectioners' sugar- 1 3/4 cups
Chocolate- 2 1/2 ounces, (squares), melted
Cake flour- 6 cups, sifted
Cocoa- 7 teaspoons
Egg whites- 6, stiffly beaten
Raspberry jam- 2/3 cup
Directions
GETTING READY
1.Start by preheating the oven to 375F degrees
MAKING
1.In a bowl, cream the shortening with sugar until fluffy
2.Add chocolate and beat thoroughly
3.Sift flour with cocoa
4.Add to creamed mixture, a small amount at a time, blending well after each addition
5.Add egg whites and blend well
6.Press dough through cookie press, using star tip
7.Make tiny flat stars approximately 3/4 inch in diameter on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in moderate oven for 8 minutes
8.Spread bottom of 1/2 of cookies with thick raspberry jam, cover with remaining cookies and dust with confectioners' sugar
