Chocolate Refrigerator Pie Recipe
Ingredients
4 egg whites
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 egg yolks
1/8 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1 sq. chocolate
1 c. whipping cream
Finely chopped nuts
Directions
Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
Add 1 cup sugar; beat until glossy.
Spread meringue in greased and floured 10-inch pie pan.
Bake at 275 degrees for 20 minutes; increase temper- ature to 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
Cool thor- oughly.
Combine egg yolks, salt, remaining sugar, flour, milk and chocolate in double boiler.
Cook, stirring constantly, over hot water, until smooth and thickened.
Whip cream; spread thin layer of whipped cream over crust.
Spread chocolate filling over whipped cream.
Add remaining whipped cream; sprinkle with nuts.
Chill for 10 to 12 hours.
