Chocolate Polka Dot Pie Recipe

Ingredients
| 1 envelope unflavored gelatine | ||
| Sugar | 2/3 Cup (16 tbs), divided | |
| Cornstarch | 1 Tablespoon | |
| Milk | 21/4 Cup (16 tbs) | |
| Eggs | 3 , separated | |
| 1 package semi-sweet chocolate | ||
| Vanilla | 1 Teaspoon | |
| Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
| Heavy cream | 1/2 Cup (16 tbs), Whipped | |
| Pie shell | 1 10 inch, baked | |
Directions
Combine gelatine, 1/3 cup ot the sugar and cornstarch in top of double boiler.
Stir in milk.
Place over boiling water and stir until gelatine and sugar are dissolved.
Beat egg yolks slightly; add small amount of hot mixture, return to double boiler and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened.
To 1 cup of the gelatine mixture add 1/2 package semi-sweet chocolate morsels; stir until chocolate is melted; set aside.
To remaining custard add vanilla.
Chill until the consistency of unbeaten egg white.
Beat egg whites until stiff; gradually beat in salt and remaining 1/3 cup of sugar.
Fold into vanilla-gelatine mixture.
Fold in whipped cream.
Pour chocolate mixture into baked pie shell.
Spoon vanilla custard mixture over chocolate layer; chill until firm.
Place remaining chocolate morsels upside down over pie to resemble polka dots.
Makes one 10-inch pie.
