Ingredients

 
1 2/3 cups sifted Swans Down Cake Flour
 
1/2 teaspoon salt
 
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
 
1/2 cup shortening
 
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
 
1 egg, well beaten
 
1 teaspoon vanilla
 
2 squares Baker's Unsweetened Chocolate, melted
 
1/2 cup milk
 
1/2 cup chopped pecans
 
1 cup pecan halves

Directions

Sift flour, salt, and soda together.
Cream shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add egg, vanilla, and chocolate; blend well.
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, stirring well after each addition.
Stir in chopped nuts.
Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, on greased baking sheets.
Bake in moderate oven (350°F.) 10 to 12 minutes.
Spread warm cookies with Mocha Chocolate Glaze.
Top each cooky with a pecan half.
