Chocolate Fudge Cake Recipe

Have you not tried my Chocolate Fudge Cake recipe yet? How is that possible? I prepare this yum Chocolate Fudge Cake as a Dessert every month or even more often. Is there a higher crime than reading about this Chocolate Fudge Cake and not trying it out?

Ingredients

 
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
 
1 (16-ounce) package brown sugar
 
3 eggs
 
3 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
 
3 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
 
2 teaspoons baking soda
 
1/2 teaspoon salt
 
1 (8-ounce) carton commercial sour cream
 
1 cup hot water
 
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
 
Frosting
 
Toasted pecan halves (optional)

Directions

Cream butter; gradually add brown sugar, beating well.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Add chocolate, mixing well.
Combine flour, soda, and salt; gradually add to chocolate mixture alternately with sour cream; beat well after each addition.
Add water and vanilla; stir well.
Pour batter into 3 greased and floured 9-inch cakepans.
Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
Let cool in pans 10 minutes.
Remove from pans; place on wire racks to cool completely.
Spread frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake.
Garnish top of cake with toasted pecan halves, if desired.
